Milton Keynes North MP welcomes coronavirus testing site in Wolverton

Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has welcomed a new coronavirus testing site at the Agora car park in Wolverton.

The new site, which opened on Thursday (21st January), forms part of an expansion to open more local ‘walk-through’ test sites across the United Kingdom, which are more easily accessible by bicycle or walking.

This follows other sites already up-and-running in Central Milton Keynes, Newport Pagnell and Bletchley, as well as a Government-backed mass testing scheme for key workers run by Milton Keynes Council.

Testing capacity across the whole of the UK is now at more than 800,000 per day, while more than 300,000 people received a first dose the vaccine in the latest daily update.

Speaking of the new site, Mr Everitt commented: "This is excellent news for Wolverton and the surrounding areas."

"The way out of this pandemic is more testing, more vaccines and better treatments so this is another step in the right direction along with the fantastic progress with vaccinations."

He added: "While we have seen cases begin to decline in Milton Keynes it’s vital we all continue to follow the restrictions and stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives."
