Milton Keynes mum gets free driving lessons through Drive Against Cancer

A mum from Milton Keynes who was diagnosed with a rare stage 4 tumour last year, is the second inspirational learner to take part in driveJohnson's Drive Against Cancer scheme.

The initiative helps young people supported by Young Lives Vs Cancer learn to drive after a cancer diagnosis.

Lauren Dickinson is receiving up to 50 free driving lessons to help her achieve her driving ambitions. She has been learning to drive an automatic car with local driveJohnson’s instructor, Jeff Brooks.

“Being able to drive completely changes what we can do,” Lauren said. “It gives me such a sense of pride: it’s something I’m achieving for myself and my kids. It will open up so many more opportunities for us.”

Her driving instructor, Jeff, praised her determination and progress: “Lauren is doing great. She’s grown in confidence with every lesson. Teaching her has been a privilege, and I can’t wait to see her pass.”

The Drive Against Cancer scheme is giving Lauren the chance to reclaim freedom for herself and her young family, and demonstrates that living with cancer doesn’t mean putting life on hold; instead, you can achieve your dreams.
