Milton Keynes MP books his COVID-19 vaccine and encourages eligible residents to do the same

Ben Everitt, MP for Milton Keynes North, has booked his COVID-19 vaccine and he is encouraging local residents to do the same when it's their turn.

Last week, those who are the age of 40, or set to turn 40 before 1st July, were invited to have their COVID-19 vaccine.

The vaccination programme has continued to make great progress, as the UK reached the milestone of 50 million jabs over the weekend.

And now local MP Ben has received his text message to book his vaccine appointment online and wants to make sure the high levels of vaccine uptake continues as we move down the age groups.

Ben said: “At the last count over 90% of over 70s in MK had received both doses of the COVID vaccine and almost 94% of over 45s had received their first which is fantastic progress but it’s vital we don’t get complacent now.

“Every single jab is another beacon of hope in our fight against the pandemic and an extra step towards freedom so when you get the call or text, please get the vaccine.”

Last week’s statistics from the NHS revealed that up until 25th April, 44,776 second doses had been administered across the whole of MK so far with 167,355 doses in total delivered since the start of the vaccination programme.

The Government is aiming to offer all adults in the UK a dose of the vaccine before the end of July.
