Milton Keynes Hospital reveal how many people they have vaccinated for coronavirus

Milton Keynes Hospital have vaccinated almost 10,000 people for coronavirus so far.

Hospital CEO Joe Harrison updated the hospital board this week on the vaccination programme which has been taking place at the hospital site since last month.

Mr Harrison said it was "a huge and fantastic effort" and added that the hospital's performance "has been noted nationally in terms of how well we have done".

Around 3,000 Milton Keynes Hospital staff in total have been vaccinated.

That's a large chunk of the 4,000 "substantive" staff the Hospital employ, with 5,000 in total including bank staff.

Meanwhile, around 4,000 people over the age of 80 in Milton Keynes have received their vaccine at the hospital.

And approximately 3,000 other health and care staff from around Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes have been given the jab too.

The number is in addition to people who have received a vaccine through their local GP practice in our city and those who have travelled to the mass-vaccination centre in Stevenage. Numbers for these are not available at a local level.

It comes as two more vaccination centres opened in Milton Keynes today, located in Whitehouse and Newport Pagnell

And Milton Keynes Council say a new planned mass-vaccination site in the City Centre will be able to deliver '2,000 vaccinations a day' once open.
