Milton Keynes Hospital announces strict rules on visits due to rise in coronavirus cases

Milton Keynes University Hospital has once again announced strict rules on hospital visits due to a rise in coronavirus cases.

Professor Joe Harrison, Chief Executive, stated that there has been an increase in the number of patients with COVID-19 both in the community and in the hospital.

It has been reported that the hospital is seeing coronavirus patients admitted daily. And unfortunately, three people died yesterday.

Professor Harrison said: "It is therefore not appropriate to have people coming into the hospital visiting unless there are specific reasons around end of life care and support for individual patients who may need them."

This now means that people must check if they can provide said support before coming into the hospital. Visitors must no longer assume that they can visit relations.

The Chief Executive clarified that "unless you're in the unfortunate position of visiting a patient at end of life or there are specific exclusion criteria unfortunately you will not be able to visit at present."

Full information on visiting restrictions can be found here

Milton Keynes University Hospital is continuing to offer emergency and urgent care, alongside a number of planned elective procedures during the second wave of the virus. Professor Harrison has stated that "we are not closing the hospital", and is encouraging people to attend A&E if necessary.

Those with COVID-like symptoms should dial 111 before visiting A&E as a last resort.
