Milton Keynes Council to replace a number of street lights throughout Hanslope

From the start of next week (05/07), many street lights across Hanslope will be replaced in an effort by Milton Keynes Council to make them more efficient while reducing light pollution.

A spokesperson from Milton Keynes Council explained why the replacement programme is necessary as they said: "From Monday 5 July we’ll be replacing 46 street light columns in Hanslope. This should take around 3-4 weeks to complete.

"The existing concrete columns are being replaced with grey steel ones of the same height. Most of these new columns will be put back in the same location as the ones removed however some will be slighty relocated around underground utilities.

"We will also be coordinating these works with our LED street lighting upgrade and will be converting the older, inefficient style lights at the same time.

"By converting to LED we can lower our energy consumption and reduce maintenance costs. LEDs allow us to direct the light exactly where it is needed onto the highways and they also help to reduce light pollution."

It is expected that this work should take around 3-4 weeks in total to complete.

It is more than likely that some sections of footways in the local areas will be closed as a safety precaution while maintenance is carried out.
