Milton Keynes Council Says No To Working From Home

Skyline Taxis are urging Milton Keynes Council to reconsider their decision with regards to allowing call handlers to work from their homes.

Currently all bookings must be taken from the operator address.Innovation in technology mean that bookings can be taken from a computer terminal anywhere is the city. Staff can work from home needing only a laptop, headset and good internet connection.

Northampton Borough Council has already approved Skyline Taxis Northampton to answer calls remotely, enabling the branch to utilise home workers. The findings are that customer calls are being answered faster and the company can employ a wider range of people including carers and new mums looking for a gradual transition back into work.

Managing Director, Gav Sokhi says:’ “Like any busy company that prides itself on customer service, we have bank staff to cover sickness, holidays and days we expect a surge in calls. Unfortunately, Milton Keynes Council Taxi Licensing Department is forcing them to come into the office to do their work, even if it’s for a very short shift, maybe during rush hours or when a MK Dons match finishes. If Milton Keynes Council were forward thinking they would understand that it makes sense for those call handlers to do their work at home within Milton Keynes and save them two journeys travelling to and from work. any problems. All we are asking for is Milton Keynes Council to allow us to become a better company so we can employ more local people in a way that benefits all’.

Skyline Taxis have stated that there would always be a fully qualified team based at the operator address who would manage the work and react to problems.
