Convenience store hits back after being accused of profiteering during coronavirus pandemic

A convenience store in Great Linford was accused of profiteering during the coronavirus pandemic and has since responded to the claims.

Local residents have taken to Facebook to share an image of what appears to be packs of unbranded budget toilet roll on sale for £14.99.

One local said: "I can imagine this will be one of the businesses closing down. I know if I was a customer I would not be using their services after this pandemic."

Another said '' Why don't they break the pack down and sell them for a sensible price. ''

People have reported that they bought the exact same toilet roll for a few pounds cheaper just days before.

Great Linford Convenience Store has since responded to the claims saying: "Everyone is talking about how [we are] selling 36 toilet rolls for £14.99. We are not trying to take advantage of the panic situation, but one of our suppliers is only delivering for higher price."
