Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre awarded £10k from the National Lottery

Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre (MKCDC) are celebrating after being awarded £10,000 in National Lottery funding to support its education activities in the community.

MKCDC, based in the historic Bradwell Abbey, will use the funding to to help groups access their education offer through digital and onsite activities.

The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest funder of community activity in the UK, will see MKCDC’s programme benefit children learning in SEND organisations and young people seeking practical and applied learning opportunities.

Dr Noël James, Director & CEO of MKCDC says: “We’re delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work in this way. Now, thanks to National Lottery players we will be able to bring our education sessions to harder to reach groups in Milton Keynes.”

Peter Baldwin, volunteer at MKCDC describes what school children experience at MKCDC: “It’s seeing history re-enacted in front of them. We have them marching up and down as Roman soldiers and get them to dress up in period costume!”

MKCDC are delighted to be able to use this grant to continue contributing to the Milton Keynes community through their unique geography and history- based learning experiences. If you work in a SEND setting or with young people who would benefit from practical and applied learning, do get in touch director@mkcdc.org.uk.
