Milton Keynes’ businesses ‘Go Blue for Willen’ in support of local charity

Willen Hospice is aiming to turn MK blue as the second week of their ‘Go Blue for Willen’ campaign gets underway.

The charity has been delighted to see so many businesses and local people get involved in the fundraiser, which runs between 2 – 15 March. And the fun isn’t over yet!

The Hospice fundraising team and volunteers will be at Gullivers Land on 13 – 14 March with their collection buckets. To help celebrate, Gullivers will be selling special blue slushies at a discounted rate of £1.95 with the proceeds going to Willen, as well as Go Blue branded bottles for a £1 donation. They will also be at Mini Monsters Soft Play Café on Friday 13 March holding a fun ‘Teddy Tombola’.

And it’s not just humans who can #GoBlueforWillen! Willen Hospice has collaborated with Metro Bank for a Willen Woofy Dog Walk on Sunday 15 March, 10.30am, leaving from the Hospice, around Willen Lake. The event is free to join, but walkers must register beforehand, and donations are welcome.

Shoppers can also enjoy the final week of our Blue Cross Sale in all of our shops.

Last week was lots of fun as well. Harben House held a ‘dress blue’ day and a bake sale, Caltag Medsystems also had fun dressing in blue and attempting an office ‘conga’, and MyMiltonKeynes turned their logo blue. Residents may have also spotted some MK ‘landmarks’ turning blue, with Centre:MK lighting up their car park, and Gullivers land turning their castle blue.

Nikki Poole, Community Fundraiser, said: “It’s been fantastic to see so much support from our local community. Go Blue for Willen is a time for fun and silliness, but the money raised will help us to continue supporting local people, and their families, who are going through an extremely tough time. A huge thank you to everyone for getting involved and supporting this amazing cause.”

Willen Hospice needs to raise £4.7 million a year, that’s £9 a minute to continue caring for patients at the Hospice and in the community.
