Mercedes are investigating cause of Milton Keynes car fire

Mercedes have launched an investigation into why a 4-month-old car caught fire in Milton Keynes last week.

On Sunday (07/03), we reported about a car fire in Furzton which destroyed a car and the owner of the vehicle told us about what happened.

Sam Benedict was driving his Mercedes AMG A-Class on the A421, just outside Furzton, on Saturday (06/03) afternoon when he suspected the car was on fire.

After quickly pulling over, the 25-year-old was forced to watch as his 4-month-old car went up in flames.

Despite the efforts of the Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, the car was completely destroyed in the shocking incident.

    Sam's car before the fire

Sam told us the fire had only just hit home and it was terrifying to know he had been driving the car while it was on fire.

He said: "It didn’t really hit home at the time when it happened I just got out and walked away but I did love the car so it’s a shame to not see it on the driveway anymore.

"It's a bit difficult to sleep now that it’s all sunk in just because of how close it was as the car was on fire while I was in it."

After the fire, Sam contacted Mercedes who assured him they would investigate the incident.

He said: "Mercedes have been great, they’re going to investigate it."

In a statement from Mercedes-Benz, they said: "We can confirm that we are aware of the incident, and it is currently under investigation."
