Meet some of the animals that need rehoming in Milton Keynes

HULA Animal Rescue, based in Aspley Guise, has lots of animals in their care that are in need of a home.

It is estimated that around 130,000 dogs come into UK-based rehoming charities every year, and many of these dogs struggle to find a forever home.

HULA is a local well-respected organisation that looks after dogs, cats, guinea pigs, horses, and lots of other animals.

And with pets being more popular than ever before, we thought that we'd take a look at the animals that are in need of a home...

    Dogs

There are currently six dogs in HULA's care, and two have been reserved. The four dogs left needing a home are:

    - Teddy, a six-year-old Cocker Spaniel who needs some behaviour training.

HULA explains: "This is the second time that Teddy has found himself in our care due to his owners not being able to manage his behaviour. Teddy is hoping to find an experienced owner who will be willing to work along side a behaviourist to help him over come his issues."

    - Bluebear, a twelve-year-old Staffie cross whose owners could no longer take care of him.

HULA said: "Bluebear's perfect home would be a nice quiet adult only home with a comfy sofa that he can curl up and take lots of naps on. He doesn't enjoy it when there are too many people around him and he becomes uncomfortable when there is too much going on."

Bluebear's back legs are stiff which is currently being investigated by vets, so he couldn't go on long walks.

    - Lottie, a 5-year-old Alapaha blue blood bulldog cross who needs some more training.

HULA said: "Apart from the reactivity towards people, Lottie is a very well behaved girly, she walks very well on her lead and she knows all of her basic commands. She loves food which helps with her training.

"Lottie is looking for an adult only home, that are experienced with dogs and behavioural issues. Also she would like to be the only pet in the home."

    - Gunner, a 5-year-old Staffie Ridgeback cross that came into HULA's care because his owner fell pregnant.

HULA said: "Gunner is a very sweet, affectionate boy with the most kind, caring nature. Everyone who meets him will quickly fall in love with him and he with them. He is a big cuddle monster who loves nothing more than fuss, attention and food!

"Gunner needs an adult only home with no other pets so he could have all of the attention to himself."

    Cats

There are currently three cats in HULA's care, and one has been reserved. The two cats left needing a home are:

    - Fluffy, a black and white domestic short hair male who came to HULA as a stray so his age is unknown, but is believed he is a young adult.

HULA said: "Fluffy was a bit timid at first, but has really started to come out of his shell now and become more confident. He likes his head area to be touched and will accept a little chin rub from staff. You can always win Fluffy round with his favourite dreamies. He enjoys his scratching tree and taking long naps!"

    - Morris, a 13-year-old black and white male domestic short hair that came to HULA's care after spending a lot of time outside of his home.

HULA explains: "You wouldn't think Morris was 13, as he looks and acts so much younger! He has been quite a nervous boy in our care, but is starting to trust the staff and lets us stroke him. He really enjoys chin rubs and becomes your friend quit quickly! Sadly Morris is quite stressed here and hopefully will continue to grow in confidence in his new home."

    Rabbits and guinea pigs

There are currently ten rabbits and guinea pigs in HULA's care, and four have been reserved. The six left needing a home are:

    - Bonnie & Sky, two 18-month-old guinea pigs that are looking for a home together.

HULA explains: "They both enjoy their hiding areas and love to run through tunnels and play with chew toys. These girls are looking for a quiet home where they can really come out of their shell more! They would prefer a home with older children."

    - Zen,  a young male rabbit that arrived at HULA as a stray.

HULA said: "He is a cheeky little chap with lots of energy! He does try to escape at any opportunity he gets and loves to jump and climb! Zen loves his time outside on the grass and would appreciate a home with a garden he can explore in the nice weather. He will come over to say hello, however needs a bit more interacting and a home to build up his confidence after having a rocky start to life."

    - Dusty, a male long-haired rabbit that enjoys running around.

HULA said: "Dusty is an active rabbit who loves to climb on his enrichment, explore our small animal house, and chew on his toys. He hopes to find a home where he wil have lots of space to hop about and explore. Dusty was kept as an indoor buny in his previous home an would like to find a new home that is indoors aswell. Dusty is currently very lonely so would like to find a home with a bunny companion."

    - Max, an 8 month old crossbreed male that did not get on with his sibling.

HULA said: "Max would prefer an outdoor home or access to a secure garden, where he can really show off his personality! He also needs a female friend to give him some company in his new home."

    - Coco, an 8-year-old Lion Head Cross female whose owner moved house and could no longer take care of her.

HULA said: "She was a little timid at first, but is slowly starting to come out of her shell more and enjoy life with us. Often Coco will let you sit with her and accept strokes from people. She prefers not to be picked up and have fuss on her terms, although loves a cuddle when she's in the mood for one!"
