Man with gun at Knowles Primary School incident in January

Police have refused to comment that armed police threaten to shoot the suspect but confirm an arrest was made.

During the incident on Tuesday 16th of January at around 11.15am, it was reported that a man was carrying a firearm at the school on Queensway in Bletchley.

Unconfirmed reports said the man ran to Ambassador House near the school and was arrested as armed police threaten to shoot the suspect.

In a statement to MKFM, Thames Valley Police said ''no threats were made against pupils or staff and we believe that this incident was not related to anyone associated with the school.''

When asked about the armed police response, Thames Valley Police said ''We are unable to discuss operational tactics with regards to this or any other case''.

The suspect is believed to be a 25-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and has been released without charge.

A number of questions have been asked as to why this information was not released at the time of the incident.

The day after the incident at the school, Inspector Nick Herceg; based at Milton Keynes police station, said: “We have arrested a man in connection with his suspicious activity this morning and he is currently in custody. We are carrying out a thorough investigation, but we do not believe this man posed a threat to pupils or staff at the school. We are aware this would be worrying to parents, staff and pupils at the school, as such there will be an increased police presence at the school. Parents should not be alarmed but anyone with concerns should speak to one of our officers, or call 101.”

Police have said the investigation is ongoing whilst the School itself has not responded to our request for a statement.
