Piers Morgan has even pledged £10,000 to Captain Tom Moore's birthday walk for the NHS.

Tom has stolen the hearts of the nation with his birthday challenge. He is walking 100 lengths of his garden in Marston Moretaine before 30th April - his 100th birthday.

He has since appeared in national newspapers, on various national news channels, and countless celebrities are taking to social media to show support. And Piers Morgan, who spoke to Tom on Good Morning Britain today (13/4), has even pledged to donate £10,000 of his own money to the cause.

Every penny raised from Tom's birthday challenge will go towards NHS Charities Together to support healthcare workers during the coronavirus crisis.

MKFM's Michael Blades spoke to Tom Moore last week - listen to his interview below:

The WW2 veteran has commended the NHS for the "incredible" service that he has received in the past, having been treated for a broken hip and skin cancer.

He now wants to give back to those working "so hard", who are "so tired" and are "really doing so well" during the current climate.

Tom's initial fundraising target was £1,000, which was then raised to £100,000, £250,000 and now £500,000. Tens of thousands of people have donated, and the total is going up in the thousands by the minute.

His family has since been so overwhelmed by the support that they have created a Twitter page and YouTube channel so that people can follow Tom's journey.
