Local Milton Keynes fire station shares message of support ahead of England vs Italy game

A number of firefighters from West Ashland fire station have given their best wishes to the English team ahead of tonight's game.

Earlier today, a photo was posted on social media of firefighters in front of their station - all gathered around the words "It's coming home" which had been constructed from their equipment laid out on the floor.

A spokesperson for West Ashland fire station wrote a short accompanying message that read: "West Ashland fire station are sending their support to Gareth Southgate and the England team.

    "It's coming home."

The phrase has been widely circulated the last few weeks and is taken from the 1996 hit 'Three Lions', which is often used by football fans to show their support towards the English football team.

Tonight's game will see England take on Italy, in a match sure to go down in history. The match will be the biggest game for England’s national team since their win at the 1966 World Cup - over 55 years ago.

If victorious, it will also be the first European Championship to be won by the Three Lions in the competition's history, making yet another landmark for Gareth Southgate's team.

Across the country, a number of businesses will be closing early later on today in order to allow as many people as possible to see the spectacle.
