Local fire service issues advice after crews attend carbon monoxide leak in Milton Keynes

Fire crews were called to a carbon dioxide leak on Thursday in Milton Keynes

Fire crews were called to an address on Eaton Avenue, Bletchley at around 6:36pm on 27th January.

Two appliances and crews from West Ashland attended, along with an officer.

The firefighters used two sets of breathing apparatus, a gas monitor and they isolated the gas supply, ventilated the property and provided advice.

Bucks Fire and Rescue said: "Carbon Monoxide is a poisonous gas that has no smell or taste, as a result some refer to it as the silent killer.

"Would you recognise the signs and symptoms of Carbon Monoxide poisoning? If you have gas supplied to your home, check out our gas safety tips."

Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs when a fuel burning appliance such as a boiler, gas or open fire has not been properly installed, maintained or ventilated. 200 people are hospitalised in the UK every year with carbon monoxide poisoning.
