Local fire crews on the hunt for new on-call recruits in Milton Keynes

Buckinghamshire fire and rescue service, which covers Milton Keynes and surrounding areas, are looking for new on-call firefighters.

An On-Call Firefighter is someone who provides a range of fire and rescue service roles; these range from emergency calls, working at open days, carrying out work with their local communities and acting as an ambassador for the fire service.

On-Call Firefighter could be called out two or three times a week, for a few hours at a time and the hours are based around your availability and other commitments.

Successful applicants will learn new skills along the way such as first aid, road traffic collision procedures and fire safety, with an opportunity to train to be a large goods vehicle driver.

Full training is provided on an ongoing basis, therefore previous experience is not needed.

On-Call Firefighters come from every walk of life, including homemakers, shopkeepers, builders, farmers, office workers and directors of companies, together with people who are not currently employed.

They work closely with the community to increase their level of awareness and to help prevent incidents from occurring in the first place.

Potential recruits must live within a certain radius of a local fire station to ensure speed.

You can find out more and see if you live within the radius on the bucks fire website.
