Local animal rescue charity HULA is seeking help from animal lovers to help continue its work

HULA Animal Rescue, based in Aspley Guise, is seeking help from the local community to allow the charity to continue its vital work during the coronavirus crisis.

HULA Animal Rescue, part of the National Animal Welfare Trust, is a small animal adoption centre. There are currently over 30 animals, including dogs, cats, and small animals, at the centre.

The HULA shop in Woburn Sands is the local charity's main source of income, but due to lockdown, it is no longer able to open. Volunteers are also no longer allowed to help the charity, so now a small team of staff is working hard to take care of the animals.

Six dogs that are in HULA's care rely on donated dog food, but as the charity is no longer accepting these donations, HULA has had to take a different approach.

In order to cope with the major change in dynamics, HULA has launched both an Amazon Wish List, where people can purchase items (including dog food) which are then sent directly to the centre, and a JustGiving page, where supporters can give monetary donations.

"Our small team are working hard now it’s just us on-site looking after the animals in our care," said one of the team. "We miss our lovely volunteers helping us out at the moment due to us being on lockdown, but hopefully we can get back to normal soon.

"We can’t accept physical donations at the moment, but if anyone wants to donate any monetary donations via our just giving site or through the National Animal Welfare Trust web site that would be great."

    Ways to donate:

JustGiving - You can access the JustGiving page here.

Amazon Wish List - Supporters can choose which item(s) they wish to purchase for HULA Animal Rescue. Once you purchase the product(s), Amazon will send them directly to HULA, so you do not need to leave your home. You can access the wish list here

National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) website - If you wish to provide a monetary donation you can also go through the NAWT's website directly. Donations can be made via direct debit or a one off payment. Access the donation page here
