Large increase in cases as 109 people test positive for COVID-19 in Milton Keynes over past 24 hours

    There has been a large increase in cases as 109 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, according to the latest data.

    The latest figures take the total number of cases to 21,401 since the start of the pandemic. 

    458 local people have tested positive in the past seven days - a number that has been rising each day.

    The 7-day case rate in Milton Keynes now stands at 95.4 cases per 100,000 people, which is still below the national average of 168.6 cases per 100,000 people. 

    Nationally, there was an additional 27,989 people who tested positive yesterday.

    22 deaths were also recorded within 28 days of a positive test - none of these took place in Milton Keynes meaning the city's death toll remains at 463 since the start of the pandemic.  

    Five patients are being treated for COVID-19 at Milton Keynes Hospital (as of 29th June), and one of these people are on ventilators. 

    175,852 local people have had their first dose of the vaccine so far and 118,401 people are now fully vaccinated.
