Lakeview Lodge residents treated to Come Dine With Me experience

Residents from three Country Court Care Homes have been enjoying a ‘Come Dine With Me’ experience over the last few weeks.

Two residents from Lakeview Lodge in Milton Keynes, two from Ferrars Hall in Huntingdon and two from Rose Lodge in Market Deeping have visited each other’s homes for a luxury dining experience.

Head of Hospitality, Anwar Kajee says, “Our teams have all come together to provide a fantastic experience for residents and showcase the wonderful hospitality we offer in our care homes. From the mini-bus drivers, activities teams, front of house teams, chefs and home managers, it’s a great example of how everyone can work together to provide a great experience for our residents”.

Staff and chefs from each of the homes pulled out all the stops to deliver a fabulous dining experience. At Lakeview Lodge Care Home in Bletchley, Milton Keynes staff had created an ‘Oscars’ themed event. Guests were given the red-carpet treatment with ‘mocktails’ on arrival before enjoying a starter of smoked salmon and cream cheese roulade served with crostini to start. The main course was Pan fried fillet steak with langoustine tails and parsley puree, served with butter poached potatoes, heritage carrots and white asparagus for the main course. Dessert was the ‘Lakeview Sweet Shop Selection’ with Crunchie ice cream, raspberry jelly shot and a lemon sherbet lollypop.

Becky Wood, Home Manager at Lakeview Lodge said, “It was lovely to see residents making friends with people from other care homes, people were talking about the next visit and looking forward to seeing their new friends. The standard of food here at Lakeview Lodge really is exceptional and not what people expect, this has been a great opportunity to showcase our high standards, we are looking forward to the next ‘Come Dine With Me’ event!”

The team at Rose Lodge Care Home in Market Deeping set the bar high, giving guests a warm welcome with entertainment from a saxophonist. Chef Manager Simon Pick served Herb Roasted Lamb with carrot and nutmeg puree, roasted cauliflower and fondant potato. Dessert was white chocolate and Bailey’s bread and butter pudding.

At Ferrars Hall in Huntingdon guests were entertained by a magician and balloon artist who provided a lively atmosphere for lunch. Chef Steven Ireland prepared canapes for guests to enjoy with a glass of prosecco before sitting down for lunch in the private dining room. On the menu at Ferrars Hall was stuffed pork tenderloin with apples and ginger, pan fried sauté potatoes, roast baby carrots and buttered asparagus served with blue cheese sauce. Dessert was a trio of strawberry desserts including strawberry cheesecake, vanilla and strawberry parfait and mini strawberry and white chocolate mille-feuille.

Residents were delighted with their dining experiences and when asked to vote, gave each home high scores out of ten. It was tough to pick a winner, but after much deliberation it was declared that Ferrars Hall was the overall winner providing the best all-round experience. Guests thought that the food at Lakeview Lodge was excellent and the warm-welcome from the Rose Lodge team set the standard for the whole competition.
