John Lewis in Milton Keynes suspends click and collect service amid coronavirus fears

John Lewis is one of the first shops to suspend its click and collect service amid coronavirus transmission fears.

The service was paused last night (12/1) to reduce the number of people leaving home for "non-essential reasons" during lockdown.

Andrew Murphy, Executive Director of Operations, said: "We've listened carefully to the clear change in tone and emphasis of the views and information shared by the UK's governments in recent days.

"While we recognise that the detail of formal guidance has not changed, we feel it is right for us - and in the best interests of our Partners and customers - to take proactive steps to further enhance our Covid-security and related operational policies."

Already processed click and collect orders will be carried out, but customers will not be able to order any new items for collection from the department stores.

However, John Lewis orders will still be available for click and collect from Waitrose stores, and shoppers will be told to wear a mask by covid marshals.
