Illegal fly-tipping is on the rise in Milton Keynes' parks now that tips are closed

The Parks Trust has said they are seeing an increase in fly-tipping throughout Milton Keynes now that local rubbish tips are closed.

The local charity, that owns over 6,000 acres of parkland and green space in Milton Keynes, has stated that clearing the rubbish will be expensive and time-consuming.

Images have been shared on The Parks Trust's Twitter page showing the illegal fly-tipping.

This follows the news that rubbish tips throughout the country had to close in line with the Government's orders to ensure social distancing.

Residents who spot anything suspicious have been asked by The Parks Trust to support them by reporting it to 101.

Open spaces in Milton Keynes that are owned by The Parks Trust include river valleys, ancient woodlands, lakesides, parks and landscaped areas alongside the main roads that represent 25% of the city.

MKFM has contacted The Parks Trust for comment.
