Iconic Coca-Cola truck will NOT be passing through Milton Keynes this Christmas

Another tradition that has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic is the annual Coca-Cola truck tour.

Plenty of annual events, including the city's largest firework display in Campbell Park and Olney's 'Dickens of a Christmas' market, will not be going ahead due to social-distancing restrictions.

Despite this, several Christmas Grottos in the city and Milton Keynes Theatre's pantomime are still planning to launch in a covid-secure manner.

And people were hoping that Coca-Cola's truck tour would be amongst the traditions continuing this year, as the big red vehicle is a sign for many that the festivities have begun.

It was made famous in Coca-Cola's Christmas advert back in the 1990s, and since then, the company has hosted a large UK-wide tour that sees various locations be visited by the truck signalling that "the holidays are coming".

Milton Keynes has been featured as a stop on the tour over the years, but unfortunately, it has been announced that the tour has been completely cancelled this year due to lockdown restrictions.

People have since shared their disappointment following the news, but we'll just have to hope that the tour will return to the city next year.

Have you got any photographs of the Coca-Cola truck in MK over the years? We'd love to see. Email us at news@mkfm.com.
