How can you support Willen Hospice during the coronavirus outbreak?

Willen Hospice is seeking help from the local community to help support its patients and their families during this troubling time.

The charity, based next to Willen Lake, needs to raise around £9 every minute to continue offering free care to those who need it.

Peta Wilkinson, Willen Hospice Chief Executive, said: “We are extremely thankful to have our wonderful community behind us at this unprecedented time. Our staff and volunteers are working tirelessly to deliver our services, doing all we can to protect our patients, and making sure their loved ones feel safe and reassured. Any way our supporters can help at this time is deeply appreciated.”

Willen Hospice appreciates and understands that the entire community has been affected, but is appealing for continued support at this difficult time.

At the minute, the charity, aside from monetary donations, is requesting the following:

    • Hand sanitiser
    • Antibacterial wipes
    • FFP3 face masks

The Hospice is also facing a shortage of volunteers at this time. If you are not in the ‘at risk’ group and are happy to donate your time and skills, please email: tracey.hughes@willen-hospice.org.uk

Peta Wilkinson continued: "We would also like to thank the voluntary group, Comfort Items for Willen Hospice. They have an Amazon Wishlist which they’ll keep up to date with needed items."

This wish list includes items that patients and families at the hospice require, including t-shirts, baby wipes and stationary. All purchases are sent directly to Willen Hospice. You can access it here.

Alternatively, if you would like to make a monetary donation to support the Hospice, you can do so online or by texting MKHOSPICE to 70085 to donate £10*.

    * For each text message sent you will be charged your £10 donation (100% of your donation comes to Willen Hospice) plus one standard rate message, and you’ll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via phone and SMS. If you’d like to give £10 but don’t want these communications text MKHOSPICENOINFO to 70085.
