Government Recognition for Outstanding GCSE Attainment at Oakgrove Once Again

The sun was certainly shining on Oakgrove students when they received their GCSE results and were congratulated by Schools Minister Lord Agnew.

An impressive 76.5% of students achieved grades 9 - 4 in English and Mathematics, with over 20% of all GCSEs being graded 9-7.

The student’s strong performance in their GCSEs means that Oakgrove will have the highest number ever of its own pupils joining its sixth form for further study.

Oakgrove School’s Headteacher, Ian Tett, said:

“Student’s excellent work ethic, the high-quality teaching of our staff and the continued support from parents have all contributed to this year’s well-deserved GCSE results.

“Our students have achieved the high standards expected in these more challenging and reformed GCSEs and their impressive results form a firm foundation for them to go onto further study and beyond. We are excited that, as well as welcoming a record number of our own students back into the sixth form, other students from across Milton Keynes have chosen to join Oakgrove for their post-16 studies.

“Whether our students choose a pathway into further education, employment or vocational training, we are sure they will continue to strive to succeed.”

    Schools Minister Lord Agnew added:

“Today marks the culmination of much hard work from students and teachers alike, and I want to congratulate all those involved in the exceptional results at Oakgrove School, and the wider team at the Kingsbridge Educational Trust. GCSE results can be the springboard for a whole career, so whether young people choose further study through A levels, an apprenticeship or a vocational qualification, they should be full of excitement about the next stage in their lives.”
