Police confirm woman involved in incident on A5 in Milton Keynes is now safe

    Thames Valley Police have said that a woman is now safe after being involved in an incident on the A5 in Milton Keynes earlier this afternoon.

    The A5 was closed earlier this afternoon between the junctions with A509 Portway and A421 Grafton Street.

    Police have now released a statement regarding the incident.

    It reads: "Thames Valley Police were called today following a fear for welfare incident involving a woman on the A5, Central Milton Keynes."

    "Officers attended the scene and put a road closure in place in order to ensure public safety."

    "The woman has since been made safe and the road closure has been lifted."

    The full closure was reported at around 3.30pm and lifted at around 3.45pm.

    Traffic has now returned to normal in the affected area.

    Eyewitnesses reported a Police presence at the scene as well as an ambulance.
