Get your trainers on for the Willen Hospice Lake Run

Willen Hospice is inviting all running enthusiasts to take part in their charity Lake Run on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October.

Runners of all abilities can choose to run 5K or 10K routes around Willen Lake, or from their own homes. To comply with social distancing regulations, this year’s event has been redesigned to take place over an entire weekend, rather than just one day, so participants can run whenever they wish.

Tracey Jago, Willen Hospice Events Manager, said: “We know lots of people used the lockdown period to get fit, with record downloads of the Couch to 5K app. Our Lake Run, gives those runners the motivation to keep up their hard work as the weather begins to turn and the days get shorter. They can even push themselves and sign up for the 10k! Being sponsored to run is a great way to stay focused on your goal, and it makes it harder to give up. In the end, you’ll feel so proud of yourself, and the money raised will help Willen Hospice to continue providing free end-of-life care to our patients, and support for their families.”

Adult entry costs £15, and Child Entry (8 – 17 years) is £8. Everyone taking part will receive a Lake Run medal in the post after the event, as well as downloadable 5K or 10K routes around Willen Lake.

Willen Hospice needs to raise £4.7million every year, that’s £9 a minute. To help them reach that target, the Hospice is encouraging all runners to get sponsorship for taking part in the Lake Run.
