Free tickets available for Willen Hospice historic documentary film screening at Milton Keynes Gallery

Willen Hospice, in partnership with Living Archive MK, has created a special documentary film to commemorate 40 years of caring in Milton Keynes - thanks to a £10,000 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

There is now a limited amount of free tickets available for the exclusive screening event, which is set to take place during Heritage Open Days at The Sky Room cinema, MK Gallery on Tuesday 13th September 5pm – 7pm.

The film which will be on show, ‘Willen Hospice Caring for MK since 1981’, will look back over the past 40 years, from when the Hospice first opened its doors in the early 80s.

The documentary celebrates community coming together to make the dream of a local Hospice into a reality.

Viewers will also be able to see how it has grown to become one of Milton Keynes’ best-loved charities, helping countless families over the years.

The documentary will capture the stories of the people who make Willen Hospice such a special charity for the city of Milton Keynes.

The first public screening will then also be followed by a Q&A with those involved in the project.

Roger Kitchen, Living Archive MK Film Producer comments “It’s been a real privilege listening to people’s stories about Willen Hospice.  I was really spoilt for choice in making this film.

"I am aware that this is a history of the Hospice rather than the history, as I have had to leave out so many wonderful stories in making this film of just an hour.”

Rachael Withe, Willen Hospice Marketing Manager adds “we are thrilled to be able to document our incredible four decades of care and share the untold stories of many people who have been an integral part of our journey so far.  This film belongs to everyone in Milton Keynes and celebrates all those who have been, and continue to be, the reason why we are able to provide our care and services.”

Tickets can be booked online through MK Gallery’s box office or by calling 01908 676 900.

The screening will take place on Tuesday 13th September at The Sky Room, MK Gallery, 900 Midsummer Boulevard, Central Milton Keynes MK9 3QA.
