Four men arrested on suspicion of being 'equipped for theft' in suspected stolen vehicle in Milton Keynes

    Thames Valley Police have arrested four men after an ANPR camera was activated on a vehicle driving in the Grange Farm area of Milton Keynes on Friday night.

    Thames Valley Police officers were called on Friday night at about 9.10pm following reports that a vehicle had triggered an ANPR camera in Singleton Drive, Milton Keynes.

    Officers pursued the vehicle and when it stopped, carried out four arrests.

    A 37-year-old man from Milton Keynes was arrested on suspicion of being carried in a vehicle taken without the owner’s consent,  theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped for theft.

    A 28-year-old man from Walsall was arrested on suspicion of being carried in a vehicle taken without the owner’s consent,  theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped for theft.

    A 26-year-old man from Walsall was arrested on suspicion of being carried in a vehicle taken without the owner’s consent,  theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped for theft.

    A 29-year-old man from Milton Keynes was arrested on suspicion of being carried in a vehicle taken without the owner’s consent, and theft of a motor vehicle.

    They remain in police custody at this time.

    ANPR, which stands for automatic number plate recognition, is a technology for automatically reading vehicle number plates.

    The Home Office states ANPR is used by law enforcement agencies in the United Kingdom to help detect, deter and disrupt criminality including tackling organised crime groups and terrorists.
