A man who used to teach Art and DT at Stantonbury Campus will be taking part in Channel 4's The Great Pottery Throw Down.

Peter White, 69, who lives in Woburn Sands, previously followed in his father's footsteps and worked as a product designer for years. It wasn't until just before his 50th birthday that he decided to return to university to study ceramics, and has been teaching visual arts ever since.

The much-loved teacher worked at Stantonbury Campus, now called Stantonbury International School, as an Art and DT teacher for nearly 20 years. Peter has since started his own business called Woburn Sands Clay.

Peter is a contestant on The Great Pottery Throw Down which sees amateur potters compete to impress the judges Keith Brymer Jones and Richard Miller.

Messages of support have been pouring in for the former teacher who has certainly left his mark. "Good luck Peter, you honestly were the most supportive teacher and gave me the best guidance," said one person.

Another added: "Good luck Peter! This is so exciting! Your art classes were always the highlight of the week! Still got my clay model I made with you! All the best!"

The show will air on Channel 4 on Sunday 10th January at 7.45pm.
