Flood alert issued to select areas across Milton Keynes

Due to recent levels of heavy rainfall over the last week, an orange flood warning has been put in place throughout some areas across Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

The government have issued a flood warning for the local area, which reads: "River levels have fallen at the Brackley river gauge and have just peaked downstream at Haversham.

"Flooding of roads and farmland remain possible today (15/05). There is a possibility of flooding for the River Great Ouse from Brackley to Haversham, including Padbury Brook.

"Flooding of properties is not forecast at this stage. Some further rainfall is likely today and over the weekend with isolated heavy showers possible. We expect river levels to rise in response to any further rainfall.

"We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."

Areas throughout the north of Milton Keynes are likely to be the worst affected, such as Stony Stratford, Wolverton and Haversham.

Further updates are to be expected later this evening.
