Fire occurs in derelict commercial building in Milton Keynes

    At 10:28 am earlier this morning (12/07), local firefighters raced to extinguish a derelict commercial building that was on fire on Church Street, Wolverton.

    Attending the scene from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service was one appliance and crew from Newport Parnell station, two from West Ashland station as well as one from Broughton station. 

    In making the site safe, the responding firefights made use of two sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reels and two sets of thermal imaging cameras. 

    Smoke was issuing from the three-storey derelict building when they arrived.

    As a result of the fire, it is estimated that eighty per cent of the ground floor was damaged, as well as around ten per cent of the first floor. 

    It is not currently believed that anyone was injured during the course of this incident.
