Paperchase in Milton Keynes is the latest casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic as the city centre store will not be reopening after lockdown.

Struggling stationery chain Paperchase collapsed into administration at the start of this year, and weeks later was sold to Aspen Phoenix NewCo in a deal by administrators PwC.

This move secured Paperchase's future, although it means that the company will now have to operate on a smaller scale.

In the last month, it has been announced that dozens of Paperchase stores across the UK would be permanently closing, and unfortunately, MKFM can reveal that amongst those closures is the Milton Keynes branch.

Recently, Paperchase has been in discussion and negotiation with landlords across the UK to find a solution to support "profitable trading".

However, in certain cases, these agreements could not be met.

This is why the company says they have decided to permanently close the store within the centre:mk and have subsequently made all staff redundant.

The stock within the city centre store has since been cleared, although the signage remains.

Paperchase's closure will leave yet another empty unit within the once-bustling shopping centre. Other stores that have been lost to the COVID-19 pandemic include Topshop, Burtons, and Cath Kidston.
