Early years workers in Milton Keynes can now receive rapid asymptomatic coronavirus tests

The rapid asymptomatic testing facility for key workers in the city has opened up to include those who work with young children.

Milton Keynes Council has secured a batch of 22,000 lateral flow tests for its new pilot, located at the Central Milton Keynes Library.

Previously it was reserved for asymptomatic workers within the police, fire services and frontline council staff.

But yesterday (28/1), Milton Keynes Council confirmed that the programme has been expanded to include those who work within early year settings.

This means that childminders, staff at nurseries, and in pre-school centres can now access a free test if they do not have symptoms.

There is no need to book the appointment; early years workers can turn up at the centre with their work ID and smartphone, and there is no need to wait on-site for the results.

Currently, the centre is only open from 09:30 to 16:30 Monday to Friday, but out of hours sessions will be starting soon.
