A driver was arrested by police officers after riding a pit bike illegally in a Milton Keynes housing estate.

Neighbourhood officers from Thames Valley Police announced that they spotted an individual riding a non-street legal pit bike in Coffee Hall.

These bikes, which are primarily used for off-road racing, can be made street legal by being insured, registered with the DVLA and adapted to have the necessary mirrors, lights, and everything needed to pass an MOT.

However this particular bike, which was seized and will later be crushed, was not equipped to be driven on normal roads.

Officers subsequently made an arrest and said that they would continue targeting those who are riding illegally throughout Milton Keynes, especially at the National Bowl.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: "Well that’s one more for the crusher. Today [our officers] spotted this bike being ridden on Coffee Hall. We are happy that this is now one less bike for the MK Bowl. Added bonus for us was the rider getting arrested too.

"We will continue to catch these riders and bike as best we can. And continuing work is being done around the Bowl to target this ongoing issue."

Residents have also reported motorbikes being ridden illegally on redways and footpaths in estates such as Heelands.

Anyone who wishes to report such activity can do so by calling Thames Valley Police on 101 or by reporting it online.
