Data suggests all people aged 70 to 79 in Milton Keynes have had their COVID-19 jab

Data released today (18/3) suggests that all residents aged 70 to 79 in Milton Keynes have had their COVID-19 vaccine.

NHS England has released the weekly vaccination statistics showing that 10,373 jabs have been administered locally this week, taking the total number of doses to 95,400 in Milton Keynes alone.

The vaccine uptake has been a success locally, with the latest figures demonstrating a high number of vaccinations being given to each of the top priority groups.

94.6% of over 80s and 100% of 70 to 79-year-olds have been vaccinated, according to the figures.

This has been calculated by comparing the vaccination figures with the official population estimate from 2020.

In terms of the 70 to 79-year-olds, the NHS says that the number of individuals vaccinated exceeds the population. This means that 18,430 people in that particular group have been vaccinated.

A further 92.8% of 65 to 69-year-olds have had at least one dose, which equates to 11,613 people.

80.8% of the next priority group - 60 to 64-year-olds - have had their jab too.

Last week, the NHS announced that they would be moving onto vaccinating the over 55s so the vaccination figures are slightly lower for this age group.

6,913 people aged 55 to 59-years-old have had at least one dose, which is around 41.8%.
