'Dangerous predator' traveled to Milton Keynes to meet three young children for sex

A 69-year-old man who thought he was meeting three children under ten-years-old for sex has been jailed for five years and seven months.

Allan Robins, previously of Corby, made contact with another person in a chatroom in December 2021 who he believed had three children, aged 2, 7 and 9, that he would be allowed to meet up with and sexually abuse.

Robins made arrangements to travel from Corby to Milton Keynes to meet the person and the three children but what he didn’t know was that he was actually talking to an undercover police officer.

He was arrested when he arrived at the Milton Keynes address.

In interview, Robins tried to deny his crimes by stating that he had only gone to find out their address and report them to the police but his defence was subsequently disproven at court and he was convicted of three counts of arranging the commission of a child sexual offence.

At Northampton Crown Court at the end of last month (March 31), he was handed a five year and seven month prison sentence. He was also issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register until further notice.

DS Helena Congreve from Northamptonshire Police's POLIT Team, said: “I welcome the sentence handed out to Allan Robins as he has shown himself to be a dangerous predator who was willing to meet a child as young as two in order to sexually abuse them.

“I hope this case shows the proactivity with which we treat child sex offences – that we will not wait for cases to come to us but that we will use various tactics to catch people like Allan Robins and bring them to justice.”
