Young people in Milton Keynes will be taking part in a street art parkour and education programme during February half term.
In 2021, the Council gave £20,000 to MK Gallery who are working in partnership with local group Paramount Parkour to create a two-year street art programme as part of work to educate and prevent anti-social behaviour and knife crime.
Following a packed class over the school summer holidays last year, dozens more have signed up to take part in sessions this coming half term.
MK Council has set aside £350,000 to support local projects which help young people from being drawn into anti-social behaviour and knife crime. It works with partners including police, health and representatives from the education sector.
Cllr Lauren Townsend, Cabinet Member for Public Realm with responsibility for Community Safety at MK Council said: “This investment is really important, as the right intervention at the right time can make the difference between a young person being written off and potentially drawn further into crime, and having new opportunities to grow and develop.
"We’re pleased to be working with Paramount Parkour and MK Gallery on this latest round of activities as no single agency can solve these kind of issues on their own. Together with all our partners, we’re doing all we can to stop anti-social behaviour and knife crime in Milton Keynes.”
