Coronavirus survivor climbs Mount Snowdon to raise money for Milton Keynes Hospital staff who saved his life

Local man Damion Brown was hospitalised with coronavirus earlier this year, and doctors gave him a 48% chance of survival.

The 38-year-old was otherwise incredibly fit and healthy, but after contracting COVID-19 he found himself struggling to breathe with his oxygen levels dropping as low as 78%.

Damion spent 11 days fighting for his life in hospital which was "very touch and go". The dad-of-two was later discharged after beating the odds and arrived home two stone lighter than when he went into hospital.

He had "jelly legs" and struggled to walk, but was focused on making a full recovery. This recovery started with regular dog walks, which proved a difficult task as Damion suffered from fatigue, breathlessness and severe muscle aches. But he didn't stop, and ended up returning to work towards the end of June.

He continued building up his fitness by taking part in 5k runs and high intensity fitness sessions.

Then eventually, once he had the go-ahead from his heart and lung specialist, Damion decided he would attempt to climb Mount Snowdon in Wales.

Damion set himself this intense challenge to raise funds for Milton Keynes Hospital and its staff, adding that the care he received saved his life and "made all the difference".

He completed the climb last weekend and said it was the "hardest physical thing" he had ever done.

The trail was reportedly due to take between 5 and 7 hours but Damion managed to finish in 3 hours 15 minutes.

Over £1,500 has been raised so far, and you can find the donate link here

Damion added: "The nurses, doctors and health care assistants and respiratory specialists all helped me through the toughest battle of my life, for that I'll be forever grateful."
