Community Action: MK celebrates Milton Keynes’ volunteer community

Community Action: MK is marking national Volunteers Week (1-7 June) with a family-friendly celebration that will bring together volunteers from across Milton Keynes.

Taking place on Wednesday 1 June, 10.30-12.00 at the Milton Keynes Rose, Campbell Park, local organisations will come together to celebrate the vibrant Milton Keynes’ volunteer community.

The event will take place by the Milton Keynes Rose pillar dedicated to Volunteers’ Week, and will be a great opportunity to share or hear about volunteer opportunities from across Milton Keynes. There’ll be free, fun, family activities, including music, lawn games, and a pop-up litter pick with a certificate for any budding volunteers who take part. You’ll also be able to purchase refreshments from the Really Awesome Coffee Van.

Debbie Brock, High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire and Chair of the MK Rose Trust says, “Volunteers have always played a vital role in the development of the Milton Keynes community, and it is right that their contribution is acknowledged with a pillar inscription at the Milton Keynes Rose in Campbell Park. The Rose is our place for celebration, commemoration and contemplation, and I am delighted that the work of our voluntary sector is being celebrated at this event.”

Clare Walton, CEO of Community Action: Milton Keynes explains, “Volunteers’ Week is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the wealth of care, time and skills volunteers bring to the Milton Keynes community, and of course our amazing volunteers were instrumental in MK gaining City Status. We’re looking forward to celebrating their efforts at The MK Rose.”

Annette Parmar from MK Gallery adds, “We are delighted to be taking part in this event celebrating the amazing contribution of volunteers in MK. We at MK Gallery could not open our doors without our wonderful team.”
