City Status Plans Scrapped Due To Brexit? Here's a round up of all the Milton Keynes April Fool's today

As is tradition on April 1st every year, 'fake news' is rampant as many local media outlets join in the fun. Here's a round up of the best April Fool's stories we have seen today in Milton Keynes.

The story which has gained the most traction today is from local blogger LouBou, who released an article claiming that Milton Keynes City status plans have been scrapped due to Brexit.

It claims that a little known European Union regulation for 'countries outside the EU' states there is a strict limit to the number of towns and cities that the UK can house.

For most readers the fool was to be discovered with the final line of the article stating that "When the Brexit alarm clock rings in 2019 Milton Keynes will be transported back in time to 1967 and will be known as it’s original lands-kin name Milton Keynes Village."

It seems that the Milton Keynes city or town debate will never end.

Over to local magazine Celebrate MK now, who have said that an annual Milton Keynes Wild Cow Race is to take place to cement our cities reputation as the UK’s Cow Capital.

The article reports that "several main roads in the city centre will be sealed off and flooded with mud to allow local dignitaries to rampage through the streets riding cows in an udderly ridiculous quest for glory".

It concludes by saying that "the winning cows will receive the honour of being eaten by some of Milton Keynes’ most well-known and respected people within hours of the end of the race at a prestigious gala dinner."

Local website Love Milton Keynes was next to join in the fun, as they posted a headline saying that 'Roundabouts are to be abolished in Milton Keynes'

The site says that "fourteen major roundabouts in Milton Keynes could be turned into traffic light controlled crossroads, due to them not being compatible with upcoming self driving car technology".

Concerns are expressed as "the mix of speed and multi lane roundabouts leads to an increase in the chance of collisions with other vehicles, resulting in the decision to review roundabout provision in the city".

Also finally, on a local Wolverton Facebook group, one resident claimed that the local Tesco was giving away all the chilled produce for free after the fridge broke down.
