A charity in Milton Keynes is participating in Second-Hand September after a successful campaign encouraging people to embrace pre-loved clothing and household items, saving over 1.5 million kg of CCO2 emissions.
Headway Milton Keynes, a charity dedicated to supporting people affected by brain injury, is once again encouraging the community to shop sustainably by choosing pre-loved items. The Second-Hand September campaign is an annual event that promotes buying second-hand clothing and goods throughout the month to combat overconsumption and fast fashion.
The charity’s participation comes after a successful campaign involving customers to lower their consumption. Reflecting on their impact, Headway said, “Thanks to our amazing customers who chose second-hand in Headway shops in 2024, Headway shops collectively saved a staggering 1,597,048.60 kg of CO2 emissions based on the clothing purchased and reused. Think about that! It's the equivalent of planting 811,152 trees that will continue to absorb CO2 for years to come.”
In addition to promoting second-hand shopping, Headway Milton Keynes is furthering its commitment to sustainability by upgrading its retail shops to energy-efficient LED lighting, reducing both their environmental footprint and energy consumption.
With sustainability at its core, Headway Milton Keynes continues to inspire people to make eco-friendly choices, benefiting both the environment and the lives of those affected by brain injuries.
