CEO of Milton Keynes Hospital 'absolutely would' go to a pub or restaurant

The Chief Executive of MK Hospital says he 'absolutely would' go to a pub or restaurant if the correct safety precautions are in place.

This comes as pubs, bars, and restaurants are gradually reopening as Milton Keynes adjusts to a new way of normal.

Speaking on MKFM's listener Q&A broadcast, Professor Joe Harrison, CEO of MKUH, began by stating that he would never put his family's safety at risk. And, that if the correct safety measures in place he "absolutely would" go to a pub or restaurant.

Professor Harrison said: "I absolutely would if it was a sensible establishment that was taking the appropriate precautions around social distancing, cleanliness, and hygiene."

He proceeded to commend local establishments for doing a "fantastic job" in organising themselves to ensure that the correct safety precautions are being followed.

Rules vary from establishment to establishment, but the consensus is that social distancing must be followed. The Government has reduced social distancing to one metre plus, which means that restaurants and pubs can accommodate more customers whilst operating safely.

Face coverings are not compulsory, however, staff and customers can wear them if they would like to. Hand sanitiser is readily available, with customers often being required to sanitise upon entry, and freqeunt hand washing will be encouraged.

Visitors must also book online and provide contact details in case there is a coronavirus outbreak.
