Candidates needed for MK Youth Cabinet

Young people with a passion to inspire positive change are being encouraged to join Milton Keynes Youth Cabinet (YCAB).

MK YCAB gives young people a platform to put forward proposals to make MK an even greater place to live. No previous experience is required – candidates just need to be aged between 11 and 18 and have a passion to represent young people.

Once elected, MK YCAB members organise events and run campaigns to influence decision-makers on the issues which matter most to young people. Members meet monthly in Milton Keynes Council’s Civic Offices to discuss plans together with councillors.

All YCAB members will go on a team building residential in April and other trips are being planned too, including a visit to the Houses of Parliament in Westminster.

Cabinet Member for Children and Families at Milton Keynes Council, Councillor Zoe Nolan said: “MKYCAB is a fantastic way for young people to make their voices heard and influence change. In previous years, members have got really stuck in and achieved some great results, including the management of the My Say MK conference where young people from across the city come together to discuss issues most important to them.

“I’d strongly encourage anyone that’s interested to apply and I look forward to working with next year’s cohort.”

The deadline to apply is 28 January. Click here to download an application form and find out more.
