Cake cut to celebrate MK's 50th Birthday

    The official MK50 celebration cake has been cut this afternoon in the centre:mk as part of the birthday weekend celebrations.

    The giant 6ft x 4ft cake was made by local cake artist Karrin Simpson with the help of various other volunteers. 

    Crowds gathered at the MK50 Anniversary Exhibition in Middleton Hall alongside various senior people including Mayor of Milton Keynes Cllr Steve Coventry.

    Everyone who attended the cutting was also given the chance to get a free slice of the celebratory cake.

    The cake has been on display in the exhibition for the past few days as part of a catalogue of events. You can check out details of the other events taking place in the MK50 section of our website.
