British Grand Prix 2019: Here's all the A43 Road Closures, Diversions and Travel News you need

With the British Grand Prix 2019 set to hit Silverstone near Milton Keynes next weekend (12th to 14th July), we've got all the A43 road closures and diversions to keep you on the move.

Unlike previous years, the one way system on the A43 will not run on Friday or Saturday, and is being restricted to Sunday only. The Highways Agency have however advised that the option remains to be used in extreme situations as a contingency.

The road closures will start on Sunday at around 6am, with the A43 being made one way (northbound towards Silverstone) between the B4525 interchange near Brackley to Silverstone.

Meanwhile, the A43 Southbound will be closed to through traffic at Silverstone. The morning closures are expected to be finished by 1pm.

Then from 2.30pm, the A43 will be one way heading away from Silverstone, between Silverstone and the B4525 interchange near Brackley and between Silverstone and the Abthorpe Roundabout (near Towcester).

Cow Pastures will also be one way from the Pury End turn to the A5.

On Friday and Saturday, Dadford Road in Silverstone will be the only road affected by the one way systems.

Traffic is expected to be heavier than normal in Milton Keynes over the weekend, especially on the A5/A422/A508 and around the Old Stratford Roundabout.

Superintendent Dennis Murray, the event commander for Northamptonshire Police, said: “We are working closely with Silverstone Circuit and our partners as the event approaches to ensure people are safe over the F1 British Grand Prix weekend, and that anyone looking to commit a crime doesn’t succeed."

“We will have a large number of police officers, PCSOs, police staff, Specials and volunteers who will be on duty throughout the weekend, working alongside specialist teams including covert officers, armed officers and dogs."

“We have many years’ experience of policing this event, however this doesn’t mean we can be complacent. The security measures we are putting in place will be as stringent as ever and anyone thinking of taking advantage of the race weekend to commit a crime will be caught."
