BREAKING NEWS: Milton Keynes Conservative Leader resigns

Cllr Andrew Geary has announced his resignation as the leader of the Conservative group for Milton Keynes Council.

After returning to the role, having previously resigned in 2014, Andrew Geary has today handed in his resignation.

Geary says, "My decision has absolutely nothing to do with any political issues or situations, but centres solely on my now, very different personal position to the one in which I found myself in last May when I became leader again."

Geary returned to the role in May 2017, "Since that time I have lost both my mother and my ward colleague within weeks of each other and I have a father, a wife, and two children who need more and not less time with their son, husband and father as we try to adjust to a new way of family life."

The new leadership team will consist of Alex Walker and Catriona Morris, and Geary backs this team. "The new leadership team have my 100% backing and support, I know they will take the group forward in a way that I am, regrettably, no longer able to do. I also intend to continue to champion the causes that are most dear to me as a ward Cllr and a member of the Council.
