Milton Keynes Labour and Liberal Democrat Groups have again signed an agreement to work in partnership on Milton Keynes Council for the year ahead, after local elections were postponed until May 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Milton Keynes Labour Group are currently the biggest party on the Council with 23 Councillors and run the Council as a minority administration with the support of the Liberal Democrat Group, with a Labour Leader of the Council and Labour Cabinet.
The partnership agreement commits the Labour and Liberal Democrat Groups to work on an updated Council Plan that "continues to provide the people of Milton Keynes with the stable leadership they need currently, and over the coming year, as we look to the recovery of our city".
Councillor Pete Marland, Labour Leader of the Council said: “We’re pleased to be able to continue our partnership with the Liberal Democrat Group and continue to provide a consistent, stable and effective Council at a time when the people of MK need us the most."

Councillor Douglas McCall, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, said: “As Liberal Democrats we will continue to pursue our priorities, particularly tackling poverty and homelessness, improving our health and social care, building a stronger economy and keeping the budget balanced."
