BREAKING: Inquests are being opened into the deaths of two men following Milton Keynes shooting

    Inquests are this morning (2/7) being opened into the deaths of two men following a shooting in Milton Keynes.

    This is in relation to a serious incident that occurred in Two Mile Ash last Saturday (26/6).

    Thames Valley Police officers were called to Denmead at around 9:20am following reports of a domestic disturbance. 

    Officers quickly rushed to the scene and reported that one man, in his 30s, appeared to be dead upon arrival. They also discovered a young boy with serious injuries.

    Another man, in his 20s, was said to be tasered and then shot by police. Despite immediate first aid and ambulance crews treating him, police say he was pronounced dead at the scene. 

    Following the incident, Thames Valley Police made a self-referral to The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) because a police firearm was discharged. 

    The identity of the man who was shot dead by police has been confirmed as 24-year-old Kelvin Igweani. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest.

    The man who was dead upon arrival has been confirmed as 38-year-old Richard James Woodcock. The cause of death was a "traumatic head injury".

    Kelvin Igweani is suspected to have murdered Richard James Woodcock, who lived in the neighbouring property. It was said that Mr Woodcock was reportedly killed while trying to "rescue" the young boy from harm.
