Fallen tree closes busy Milton Keynes grid road during rush-hour as Storm Francis continues to hit the city

A busy Milton Keynes grid road was closed during rush-hour this evening after a tree fell in winds caused by Storm Francis.

Council highways officials were forced to close the H8 Standing Way westbound between the A4146 Tongwell Street (Brinklow Roundabout) and the V10 Brickhill Street (Kents Hill Roundabout).

The road re-opened at just before 7pm, clearing the backlog of queueing traffic in the area as motorists searched for an alternative route.

It comes as Milton Keynes Council have also had to close a city redway after glass panes became loose on a building this afternoon.

27-hour long weather warning is currently in force across the city with winds of up to 46mph.

Met Office officials have put the warning in place until lunchtime tomorrow.
